Start-up Grant

Applications for Round 2 of Fitness Australia's Lift for Life® Start-up Grant are now open!

Fitness Australia has Start-up Grants of up to $5,000 each available for fitness providers in specific Australian Government Healthy Communities Initiative funded areas to deliver the Lift for Life® program, a strength training program designed specifically to tackle type 2 Diabetes and other chronic disease.

The Start-up Grants are available to fitness businesses that have significant links with local community, local health based organisations, other community based organisations or those with significant experience in delivering programs for people with or at risk of chronic disease.

The Healthy Communities Initiative aims to help reduce the prevalence of overweight and obesity and Fitness Australia’s Grants will assist in the fitness industry’s reach of the targeted communities and make exercise more accessible.

CONSIDERING APPLYING?

Who is eligible? Providers of health and fitness services in a designated Council of Australian Governments Healthy Communities funded Local Government Area, this now also includes the recently announced Phase 3 LGAs. To find out if you’re in a Healthy Communities Initiative area see the list below. If you're unsure of the  Local Council in which you are located, click here

What? A Start-up Grant of up to $5000.00 incl GST to deliver two Lift for Life® programs over 12 months to disadvantaged people i.e. in particular those not in regular paid employment. This could include people with disabilities, mental health conditions, culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, homeless, unemployed, refugees etc.

Need some tips on applying for the Grant? Fitness Australia's Lift for Life team will be hosting a Start-up Grant Webinar to answer any questions about applying for the Grant. Discussions with industry colleagues will be encouraged. We hope to assist you in providing for the best outcome for your application.
