Lift for Life is a strength training program designed specifically for people with or at risk of type 2 diabetes. The program was developed based on research conducted at the International Diabetes Institute (now Baker IDI) which showed changes in blood glucose control which matches and sometimes exceeds that typically produced by conventional drug treatments. In 2005, the Australian Government recognised the importance of such a program and agreed to support the development and national implementation of Lift for Life. Through Lift for Life participants work towards reaching any of the following goals:
